Pakistan 303

Bought some of this ammo from Buyers Guide and tried to fire it in a 1917 British Enfield that I had bought at a yard sale a couple years ago. Five rounds failed to fire though a half dozen odd rounds of other commercial and military makes that I had around did fire. The primer impressions seem OK on all of them though a little less than I would like to see. Does this ammo have a "tough" primer and I need a new fireing pin spring or do I have some bad boxes of ammo? Have another 155 rounds of this stuff.

There is a You Tube video on Kashmere (Khyber pass?) that I believe has been posted in this forum. It shows how ammo is hand loaded by children.

So, yeah. You could have EASILY gotten a 'bad box' of ammo from Pakistan. Not an intentional thing. Just quality control isn't what it could be when children are using small hammers to seat the primers in an empty brass cartridge.

Years ago, I owned some of the Pakistani 303...for about 3 days. I got one look at the corrosion on the outside and around the primers and send it back to SOG. I never shot any of it through my SMLE, but I did hear plenty of stories of fail-to-fire and scary hangfires with that stuff.

Sorry...The Pakistani (POF) .303 ammo is pretty well known to be click...wait...wait...bang stuff. That's if it goes off at all. Lots of dangerous hangfires. I think it's also loaded with cordite (nitrocellulose strands), rather than more modern smokeless powder. That's fine, but the cordite loads tend to be erosive to your barrel throat (wears it away quickly).

from PAKISTAN???
Here is what to do:
build a fire in the yard, invite your buddies over , drink cheep beer for a few hours, around midnight or so, throw the rest of that crap in the fire.
Throw a couple wooden pallets on top and enjoy the blaze. pop pop pop, most of them should pop.
